Andrea Pensado / id m theft able - Quarantunes Series no.022 / 037 ( / )

12” Lathe edition of 28. Numbered. Risograph loose leaf front / back art printed at LOOKYHERE. OUT OF PRINT Two of the shorter QuaranTunes sessions presented as a feature length meeting of the minds. What could be better? Andrea’s side was recorded on the evening of Friday Sept. 11, 2020 from her Salem MA parlor. Seated with a strap-on microphone, Andrea created an amazing collage of live vocal manipulations, interspersed with machine sounds, all presented with beautiful primitive visual overlays and alterations. Pensado is always exploring some new weird sound cave or another, and the one she spelunks here is wonderfully berserk.  id m theft able’s side was performed on Christmas Day 2020, and offers another bananas vision of what… Read more »

LP Edition of 500. Co-Released with Cardinal Fuzz OUT OF PRINT Cardinal Fuzz and Feeding Tube Records are pleased to announce the new LP from Mienakunaru – ‘Blood Sun’. Orchid Spangiafora + Glands Of External Secretion - QuaranTunes Series no.032 : Chronicles of Magoo ( / )

12″ Lathe. Edition of 39. Numbered. Front/Back Loose Leaf Print Art printed at LOOKYHERE. OUT OF PRINT  Orchid & Glands are two of the most interesting sonic-order-destroyers to have shown up in the last coupla centuries. Their collab LP, Couscous Bizarre (FTR 594) is an extremely intricate weave of two slightly different but equally blown approaches to the possiblities offered by musique concrète. Its berserk collaged structure was put together in bits and pieces over the course of years. Attempts to do this sort of stuff in a live context, improvising with pre-recorded bits and sounds, can get messy real fast (which is not always a bad thing). But how well could it possibly work if the two artists were… Read more »

Dietrichs - QuaranTunes Series No.052 ( / )

12″ Lathe Edition of 25. Numbered. Bandcamp  Front/Back Loose Leaf Print Art printed at LOOKYHERE. Artforum – Alan Licht’s Best Music of 2021  OUT OF PRINT Recorded on the evening of Friday April 9, 2021, this father/daughter duo session was one of the high points of the QuaranTunes series.  Playing in what looked to be Don’s living room, both of these great improvisers brought their A games. Previously documented solely by the excellent PicaDisc CD, Dietrichs, this was my first opportunity to observe the duo live, and their interaction was electric. Don’s sax is well known from any recordings with and without Borbetomagus, and his ability to abrade the very skin of the air is one of his more magical… Read more »

Big Blood - QuaranTunes Series No.027 ()

12″ Lathe Edition of 35. Risograph Front/Back Loose Leaf Print Art printed at LOOKYHERE. Bandcamp  OUT OF PRINT Recorded the evening of Friday October 16, 2020, at Tank 28 inside the Blue House in South Portland Maine, here is Big Blood live. Although this record is shorn of visual magic of the trio’s Family Circus of visual insanity, the music is such a stone cool dip into the ocean of their collective subconscious you can close your eyes and almost see what was going on that night.  The music is a fantastic and revelatory stroll through a few of their old numbers, some ones that are new to me, and a selection of covers that seems utterly random until you… Read more »

Nudity - Nudity Is God’s Creation ()

A retrospective release of recordings dating from 2005 to 2010 of orgasmic interstellar mayhem . Reissued and for the first time available domestically in the USA In 2004, a commune named NUDITY, formed by four travellers from the astral plane, appeared in Olympia, Washington. Lazy Magnet - Make It Fun Again ()

LP edition of 250. Download Included. $21 Here is the first Lazy Magnet LP since 2019’s Mahogany. And it’s a beautiful instrumental album which has known many iterations since it was first conceived.  Lazy Magnet has long been the home recording project of Jeremy Harris. Over the course of it’s long arc the actual music has taken many forms – this time he has chosen to dedicate an entire body of work on a single instrument: the acoustic piano. The initial idea for Make It Fun Again dates to 2007, when Harris and his buddy Robert Parker (depicted on the cover) were screwing around recording anti-melodies on a cheap monophonic keyboard. This goof was too good to let go of,… Read more »

Josephine Foster - What Is It That Ever Was? ()

LP Edition of 400. Bandcamp. OUT OF PRINT Vinylization of a tour CDR, Josephine recorded at home around the time of A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing. Accompanying herself on guitar and piano, with some drum & vocal help from Brian Goodman, the album is a glorious once-lost-now-found piece of the fascinating musical puzzle that is the music of  Josephine Foster. While Foster’s music is clearly consonant with the current trends in avant-völk music (here, especially, on her wild readings from the Tibetan Book of Dzyan), another large portion of her muse seems rooted in the parlor music tradition that predates recorded sound. At times, when she is playing piano and singing, you can almost imagine she’s channeling the spirit of… Read more »

PG Six & Louise Bock - All Summer Long is Gone ()

CS Edition of 100. OUT OF PRINT This is a cassette preview of an amazing instrumental pandemic album recorded by this somewhat unlikely duo. The LP will be out whenever things get backer to normaler. But the cassette is here NOW! PG Six (aka Pat Gubler) is based in the New England and is known for his mastery of many stringed objects. He has appeared on six earlier Feeding Tube LPs, the most recent of which is the great PG Six Live at the Tavern (FTR 556). Louise Bock (aka Taralie Peterson) is a multi-instrumentalist long associated with both the Midwest and Spires That in the Sunset Rise, but she has other axes in the fire as well, and has… Read more »

Joseph Allred - Branches & Leaves ()

LP Edition of 231. OUT OF PRINT Don’t hold me to it, but by my count this the sixth LP we have done with the splendid Brighton-based musician named Joseph Allred. Initially known as a master of stringed instruments, Joseph has continuously expanded his musical arsenal. When asked about basics regarding Branches & Leaves, he wrote, “I played harmonium, piano, guitars, glockenspiel, banjo, tambourine, bass drum, and clarinet on this album and did all the vocals myself. I’m glad I got to collaborate with some friends and would like to have done so more, but the pandemic made that impossible. Recorded at the end of 2019 and in the first few months of 2020 in Overton County, Tennessee and Boston.”… Read more »
