Owen Maercks - Teenage Sex Therapist ()

Owen Maercks “Teenage Sex Therapist” LP with Download Code / Booklet / Lyric Sheets Edition of 500 Digitized by Jim O’ Rourke Restored & Mastered by Jeremy Pisani Digital Download. FIRST PRESSING OUT OF PRINT! Owen Maercks’ Teenage Sex Therapist LPs is one of the forgotten twisted pop masterpieces of Twentieth Century. Owen had been in Monster Island with Henry Kaiser, who proposed he do a solo album or his songs. Henry had moved back west by this time, so Owen went out and recorded this album there. Henry produced, and added amazing horn parts by Jon Oswald, Larry Ochs and John Gruntfest. The album was mixed, pressed and distributed exclusively to radio stations, record labels and the like, in hopes… Read more »

Daniel Bachman - Grey - Black - Green - Vinyl - Feeding Tube Records

Daniel Bachman - Grey-Black-Green ()

Daniel Bachman “Grey-Black-Green” LP with Download Code Edition of 400 OUT OF PRINT! First vinylization of the 2011 CDr release, with which Daniel shucked the performing name he’d been using (Sacred Harp) and laid his naked ass on the line. Bachman already sounds like a wizened player here (an image that was solidified when his mug was plastered on the box for Tompkins Square’s Obscure Giants of Acoustic Guitar trading cards), but he was actually still a babe of the Fredericksburg woods at the time this came out. Regardless, his technique is massive, and his approach to the material — based on a color wheel tuning system developed by the late Robbie Basho — is intense. Recorded onto a boombox,… Read more »

The Lentils - My Pillow Lava - Part One - My Deaf Son

The Lentils - My Pillow Lava Part One: My Deaf Son ( / )

The Lentils “My Pillow Lava Part One: My Deaf Son” LP (Single Sided) with Download Code & Book Edition of 200 OUT OF PRINT! First physical evidence of the “band” that entered the room when Happy Jawbone departed. And it’s a beaut. Pressed on clear vinyl with a silkscreen on the blank side (ala Albert Ayler’s Bells on ESP), packed with a 16 page book of Luke Csehak’s notebook fragments, the record is compendium of ideas that were once lost but are now found. For live performance, the Lentils have now assumed some sort of physical presence worthy of their sound’s wide hips. But at the time of this recording, the project was solo Luke. He did the art for the vinyl,… Read more »

Bang Bros! - 12/12/12 -

Bang! Bros. - 12/12/12 ( / )

12″ (45rpm) Edition of 300 Co-Release with 100% Breakfast OUT OF PRINT!  Bang! Brothers means many things to many people. Look the phrase up on your interweb, and you will discover many facets of amateur erotica that may have previously escaped your notice. But that is only one of its connotations. In its best sense, Bang! Bros refers to the ridiculously ecstatic duo of Mark Johnson and Arkm Foam, best known for their work with the Whithaus Family and Hunnie Bunnies. Both of the gents have now moved away from Boston — where Bang! Bros were based — but not before the threw dawn and took the challenge to play 12 live shows in 12 towns on 12/12/2012. You might think to… Read more »

Thurston Moore / John Moloney : Caught On Tape ‎– Banjaxed Blues

Caught On Tape / John Moloney / Thurston Moore - Banjaxed Blues ()

Thurston Moore / John Moloney “Banjaxed Blues” 2LP (Co-Release With Manhand) Edition of 270 The third live set by the improvising duo, Caught on Tape. Comprised of drummer John Moloney (Sunburned, Chelsea Light, Home Comfort, etc.) and guitarist Thurston Moore (Coachmen, Dapper, the Din, etc.), Caught On Tape is found here to be in both expansive and contractive modes. As always, much of the sonic structure involves head-birth/freak-register guitar rampagement running into caveman stomps head-on. But there are also reflective passages this time, such as the false bell sequence in “Banjaxed Blues” (a song title worthy of MV/EE). There’s even an actual song. Indeed, the hot run-through of “Staring Statues” (from Thurston’s ’95 solo album, Psychic Hearts) might even be enough… Read more »

Flaherty - Corsano - Low - Cost - Space - Flights

Chris Corsano / Paul Flaherty - Low Cost Space Flights ()

Chris Corsano / Paul Flaherty “Low Cost Space Flights” LP with Download Code Edition of 300 OUT OF PRINT FREE JAZZ BLOG It has been eight long years since we’ve had a new duo album by Paul Flaherty and Chris Corsano. The two have played together in other configurations, but we all know there has always been something special and telepathic about their duo collaborations. From the moment they began playing together late in the last century, Paul and Chris communicated in weird deep ways. And so it is here. Low Cost Space Flights was recorded in June 2013, at Eric Gagne’s “Thing in the Spring Festival” in Peterborough, New Hampshire. And the duo wails through the three tracks. The… Read more »

Hi Sherrifs of Blue - NYC 1980

Hi Sheriffs of Blue - NYC 1980 ()

Hi Sheriffs of Blue “NYC 1980” LP Includes booklet / Download Code Edition of 500 OUT OF PRINT! The No Wave era of NYC was a short dark flash of energy that was extinguished almost as soon as it was noticed. It happened so goddamn fast that if you missed the imaginal cut-off for inclusion by a few fucking weeks, you were forever written out of the picture. Believe me. Thurston and I wrote the book on this goddamn scene, and the Hi Sheriffs were just outside our temporal markers, despite the fact they’d played Tier 3, the Mudd Club and everywhere you’d think would matter. But look, they were as second gen No Wave as the Raybeats, the Bush Tetras and… Read more »
