Justice Yeldham - Popped in the head all the time now

Justice Yeldham - Popped In The Head All The Time Now ( / )

12″ (45rpm) Edition of 300 $15 Justice Yeldham is the performing handle of Lucas Abela of Sydney, Australia. For the last five or so years, Justice has taken Iggy Pop’s early ‘70s experiments with glass-as-instrument to whole new vistas of bloody ruin. Where the Ig saw glass as something merely to shatter and slash with (rendering old Ben Franklin’s experiements with his “Amonica” quaint in the process), Justice uses shatterage as the capstone to a whole new quasi-musical way of life. Yeldham takes salvaged sheets of glass and contact mics them, runs them through electronics, and blows the ever loving shit out of them. Someone described him as “a trumpet player trapped in a two dimensional universe” (to parse this… Read more »

Recorded at a variety of gigs during a tour of Europe in the spring of 2012,Caught On Tape documents an autodidact improv summit nearly without peer. Thurston Moore, the self-taught Connecticut guitarist for the Coachmen, Male Slut, Dapper, Wylde Ratttz, Dim Stars, Northampton Wools, Bark Haze, Pillow Wand, Diskaholics Anonymous, Society’s Ills, The Dream Aktion Unit and several other combos, is in full unhinged blaze-mode here. Gary Wilson - Forgotten Lovers

Gary Wilson - Forgotten Lovers ()

LP Edition of 1000 OUT OF PRINT New York Surf! First vinyl issue of this collection of rare and unreleased material by one of the most iconoclastic musicians produced by the 1970s. Wilson’s 1977 LP, “You Think You Really Know Me”, is a classic of alternate-universe lounge-wave, and has been cited as choice by everyone from the Residents to Beck Hansen. “Forgotten Lovers” includes unreleased studio tracks from the same period, subsequent single tracks, as well as samples of Wilson’s pre-“You Think You Really Know Me” records (a single and an album) which were more in a porn-soundtrack-jazz-funk vein. Gary has reanimated his career in the last decade, and we raise our hats to him for doing so, but his… Read more »

Happy Jawbone Family Band - Okay Midnight, You Win

Happy Jawbone Family Band - Okay Midnight, You Win ( / )

LP / CD Edition of 1000 Book Of Fire CD: $9 LP: $16 The second LP (fifth album) by this Vermont / Colorado quintet finds them traipsing ever deeper into the kind of mythic American territory we usually associate with bands who view our landscape from far outside it’s windows. Think of Australia’s Triffids or New Zealand’s Renderers and cross their brilliant Southern Hemisphere inventions with truths only wrenchable from the heart of the beast. There’s a genuine ruralist hoot factor here so smooth that it hits like a ton of silk, but there’s enough killbilly undertow to keep everyone standing nervously around that jug of magic moonshine.

Kommissar Hjuler und Frau - Jacob und Wilhelm Grimm ()

Edition of 200 This one is only for the seriously disturbed and I don’t think any amount of hype will make you want this thing unless you know exactly what it is. That being said, i will attempt a description for those who haven’t come across the world of Kommissar Hjuler (44 – an actual German police officer) and Mama Baer (30 – his wife, collaborator and mother of their two children Faust Adolf and Cy). The couple have created a body of visual, audio and performance work that has drawn the attention of many in the international art establishment and left others scratching their heads. With it’s hearty mix of sound poetry, musique concrète, absurdist performance and pornography, the… Read more »

MARS - LIVE AT IRVING PLAZA - NO WAVE - OUT OF PRINT

MARS - Live At Irving Plaza ()

Edition of 500 Includes Digital Download and Insert OUT OF PRINT! Itunes!        The second volume of live Mars recordings from Feeding Tube. This one was recorded at the band’s penultimate show, August 4 1978, with spectral help from Rudolph Grey on the side-long take of “NN End”. The quartet is at the full height of their power here, manipulating the language of tongue explosions both instrumentally and vocally.       Recorded by Brian Eno, the sound is an advance from the galacto-fidelity of the Artists Space LP, and the performance is a staggering example of Mars in their final phase. This is a stunning example of the No Wave impulse in its most experimental and personal guise.       The package… Read more »

MARS - LIVE AT ARTISTS SPACE - NO WAVE - OUT OF PRINT

MARS - Live At Artists Space ()

Mars “Live At Artists Space” LP Edition of 500 OUT OF PRINT!   ITUNES! In May of 1978 there was a five night music festival at Artists Space on Hudson Street in Tribeca. Although almost no one cared at the time, the event has since entered the halls of legend, as one of the signal events in the history of the No Wave era – one that managed to include both the Lower East Side bands and those fronted by their Western contemporaries. On the final night of the festival the two bands playing were Mars and Teenage Jesus and the Jerks. What we are presenting to you today are both sets by Mars – the most mysterious, and bizarrely-styled… Read more »

Belltonesuicide - Cartilage Evaporator

Belltonesuicide - Cartilage Evaporator ()

LP Edition of 100 Mike Barrett has been making uncompromisingly bleak noise music in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts for over a decade. Until now, his releases have come out in ultra-limited, hand assembled runs. Well, I guess nothing has changed really, except for the CD-Rs and cassettes of the past have been replaced with this beautiful slab of vinyl. Each of the one 100 covers was painted by hand, either by Barrett himself or his associate Chris Blair. The music on this LP is all previously unreleased material recorded in the last few years, with the help of Blair and Brett Robinson. The world of Belltone Suicide is dark and feedback drenched and is sure to appeal convicts,… Read more »

Kommissar Hjuler and Mama Baer

Kommissar Hjuler and Mama Baer - Amerikanische Poesie und Alkoholismus ()

180 Gram LP Edition of 500 Officer Hjuler of the Flensburg police, and his wife Frau Baer are two of contempo sound poetry’s most prolific propagandists. They have released a huge pile of artist records on their own label, and have also had releases on Ultra Eczema, Blossoming Noise, Blackest Rainbow, Gold Soundz and elsewhere. This is their first American LP, and pairs an earsplitting lecture on sound poetry on the A side and a paean to the state of American Alcoholism. One of the most amazing and consistent releases in their discography, this is a splendid place for anyone to dip their toes into the pair’s idea of sonic construction. An incredible document. “Amerikanische Poesie… is the duo at… Read more »
